Sniff sniff: Dhajala

I decided I’d throw patience to the wind and start with the fragrance I was most excited for:

Dhajala by Xerjoff

Bergamot, orange flower, galbanum, rose, jasmine, pink pepper, Tonkiphora balsam, Myroswelia balsam, amber

Dhajala eau de parfum by Xerjoff, $345 @ LuckyScent

At $345 for 50ml I was very, very eager to spritz it.

[that’s less than 2 ounces. and that’s probably why it went first]

I have an affinity for unisex fragrances.

These usually posess a strength that doesn’t come through in women’s fragrance because women’s fragrances are too busy trying to be dainty or flowery.

[neither of which i care for]

While not particularly flowery (at least not on me), I’m not sure I would like this scent on a man. You do have to consider how your body chemistry affects fragrances so perhaps on the right man…

It has an intriguing ingredients list. Blending green notes with spicy notes can be either an intoxicating success or it can be an absolute failure that will leave you trying to scrub the scent off.

Much to my pleasant surprise, Dhajala delivers this blend seamlessly for a very sensual and elegant scent that has kept me lifting my wrist to my nose all afternoon. It’s very alluring and very mysterious.

Unfortunately I can’t say it’s something I’d wear everyday; it’s much too powerful and complicated. That being said, it is definitely a fragrance I would love to have stored in my collection.

And while it won’t be my signature scent (the dry down is a bit too powdery, the smell can be overwhelming even to me), I will deeply appreciate this sample until it runs out at which point how much I love it will determine if it’s worth the $345…unless the man of my dreams stops to ask what perfume I’m wearing I’m thinking that’s going to be a no.

UPDATE:

Feedback I received about this was not good.

I heard that it smelled like old lady.

I also heard it was too strong.

And, no one stopped to tell me I smelled good.

[well shit, i sure won’t be spending $345 on it now]
