Sniff sniff: Confetto

Confetto by Profumum

Sugared almond, amber, musk, hint of anise

Confetto eau de parfum by Profumum, $240 @ LuckyScent

Sweet scents remind me of high school.

There is something so naiive and innocent and well, sweet about them.

That is the reason I have generally steered clear of anything like Confetto in my adult life. I have taken a strong liking to powerful scents that make my presence known - not scents that make you want to run to the nearest bakery and stuff your face with red velvet cupcakes.

I thought I’d give it a try because sometimes I crave that little trip down memory lane.

I’m both happy and sad that I did.

Happy because it has brought back a flood of memories while alluding to the idea of making new ones, better ones - this is a much more sophisticated sweet smell than what I wore in high school (pink sugar?). No florals is a total win in my book and seriously, it is dizzying how delectable this scent is. I appreciate the lack of vanilla because that means the sweetness doesn’t morph into a generic, vanilla body spray kind of smell.

But I am sad because I kind of like it but know that I can’t possibly walk around day in and day out smelling like the sugared almonds they sell at the LA Zoo.

Quel dommage.

In the end it smells good not great and it’s just a bit too soft for someone, like moi, who has a perma-bitch face.

If it came in a smaller size (only available in 100ml) I might consider storing one away. For now this sample is, to me, as precious as a time machine and I will definitely enjoy smelling it every now and again.

If you are a fan of sweet scents, give it a shot. You will be pleasantly surprised.
